This week my husband and I went on a date to Summerfest - a 10 day music festival located on the shores of Lake Michigan in Milwaukee Wisconsin.
There are around a dozen stages with live music happening all day long until around midnight. There is also a wide array of fair food, shopping and some cultural experiences. And lots of alcohol in true Wisconsin style.
I’ve heard a few people say that Summerfest has become a “drunk fest” but that isn’t what I experienced. Yes of course people were having a good time but it didn’t feel rowdy or out of hand. I loved the energy!
My husband and I had tickets to the “Outlaw Festival” which had an all-day music line-up (Allison Kraus, Avett Brothers, Phil Lesh and Willie Nelson) at the largest amphitheater.
We enjoyed dividing our time between the music at the Outlaw Festival and the rest of Summerfest.
A large storm came through at one point and we found ourselves hiding out in the giant bathrooms with a very good natured crowd. Even that part was fun!
We were rewarded with a beautiful pink sunset afterwards.
My husband and I agree that this was a great spot for a date!
We loved being able to pop in to all types of music.
We watched some heavy metal, some EDM and even some ska-rap in Spanish that was really good!
We also had a Wisconsin cheese & sausage platter with wine, Saz’s Mozzerella Marina, some roasted corn and my husband’s favorite - a big ole turkey leg!
It was a perfect place for us to get-away from the daily routine & cut loose and have some fun!
Thanks for the great time Summerfest!!
