Fresh. Clean. Bright Images That Look and Feel Like YOU!
Weddings are truly my favorite because they combine my two most-loved types of photography: documentary-style storytelling AND whimsical-artistic photography.
THE DETAILS
-
Over 12 years ago I converted my lifetime passion for photography into my full time profession.
I have a love for story-telling. I have been hired by hundreds of clients including well-known brands like Leinenkugals, Nikon, Verizon, SOFI, AT&T, Sun Country Airlines, Visit Door County, etc to tell their stories with my camera.
I was also hired to go on some amazing photography assignments like traveling to Uganda with the American Refugee Committee, Costa Rica with a luxury pilates retreat and Puerto Rico on assignment for an architectural magazine.
I have such wonderful memories from those worldwide photography adventures!
Some of the places my work has been featured include: Married in Milwaukee, Grand Geneva Weddings, Milwaukee Magazine, Visit Milwaukee, Travel Wisconsin, as a 65 foot tall banner on the side of a building in Denver, on the side of buses in Minneapolis, in several shows at the Minneapolis Institute of Art and Mall of America and even on the Nikon camera packaging!
-
These days we live in Brookfield, WI and my kids are super active in sports and other activities and I try my best not miss a minute of it!
So I have slowed down on the commercial + travel aspects of my career and stay a little closer to home.
I have a passion for shooting weddings and engagements and “love!” I also enjoy shooting high school seniors, local business branding, families and sports.
I shoot 2-4 local magazine covers per month (Brookfield Living Magazine, Elm Leaves Magazine, Tosa Living, etc.)
Finally, I am so proud to say I was recently voted a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Community Choice Top 3 Finalist for 2024!
-
As far as aesthetics - I typically shoot a mix of posed + candid pictures.
I like to tell the entire story of the day.. from the smallest details to great big wide shots of the ceremony or reception with everyone in attendance.
I love images that are clean, bright, fresh and timeless.
Images that look and feel like you!
I typically follow my artistic intuition when it comes to editing style, however I am happy to work with you on your vision. These are your photos to cherish for the rest of your life. My goal is that you LOVE them!
-
Every wedding is very different so this is just an example of what you can possibly expect!
First, we will meet (Zoom, phone, email or in-person) before your wedding and establish an artistic vision and style, a timeline and a “shot list.”
I also offer my wedding clients a 50% discount on engagement shoots. It is a great way to get to know one-another and make sure we are on the same page style-wise. After your engagement session I send a questionnaire asking your thoughts on the amount of editing on skin, the style and the shoot overall. That way I arrive at your wedding prepared to create photos that perfectly fit your vision.
Depending on your wedding vision, we may decide to pick a person (your mom, a friend, etc) who will help us wrangle people for group photos. (It seems there’s always an uncle or friend who is sneaking off for a drink or smoke right when you need them haha.)
We will also make sure that you are leaving ample time in your schedule to take the photos you desire.
I will bounce some creative portrait ideas off you too! If your wedding is at a location that I have not previously shot at, I will often make a trip there to scout. I like to go at roughly the same time as your wedding to see what the light will look like. Many times I will excitedly text my clients with creative photo ideas after seeing the location!
-
I want this to be a joyful + positive experience from start to end!
We will be sure to have your wedding day photography goals planned out in advance. That alleviates a lot of the "stress" on your wedding day!
Oftentimes the bride and groom will ask me to come early and take photos of the bride and groom getting ready, a first look or photos of the wedding party and families.
If time allows I will catch detail photos of the venue, cake, favors, decor and flowers before the ceremony..
During the ceremony I will be running around with two cameras -one with a wide lens and one with a zoom to make sure I catch all of the special moments.
After the ceremony I will catch those candid moments of post ceremony hugs and laughter. Then we may take group photos with the bride and groom or just bride + groom photos.
Sometimes if we are traveling, we will make a quick stop between the ceremony and reception for photos.
For the rest of the evening I will be busy documenting your toasts, dinner, dancing, bouquet tosses, etc!
Sometimes we sneak away for a few quick bride and groom sunset or night photos too.
No matter what, I am on my feet for the entire event making sure I capture all the details! And - I have to say - I love it! It brings me great joy to be a part of these moments with the couple, their friends and family.
-
After your wedding, I “cull” the images (meaning I pick the best photos that are in-focus with open eyes and flattering expressions.)
Then I hand-edit the chosen photos. Each photo receives at least 20 minutes of my time. Some photos I will spend several hours getting them “just right!” I am picky in my editing process and artistic in my vision and I craft my photos very carefully.
I tend to edit the portraits and artistic photos a bit more than the candid photos.
My general rule of thumb is that I eliminate everything on the subject that isn’t permanent like zits, cuts & bruises, dark eye circles, fly-away hair, etc. I leave all of the permanent features alone like scars, moles, etc.
I try very hard not to over-edit. After I eliminate zits, cuts, fly-aways, I do not use additional skin smoothing unless requested.
I am always happy to lighten, pinch or eliminate anything that bothers you.
My goal is for you to LOVE your photos. Just let me know!
-
After I finish editing, I upload the finished photos to a shared drive (usually Google Drive) where they are yours to download, keep, cherish and print as you like! No hidden or additional fees.
I do have a professional magazine-quality print service that you are welcome to order from if you like.
I typically will send you the photos within 2-3 weeks of your wedding depending on the time of year. I usually will share a few sneak-peek photos within a day or two of your event!
