Savory Sandwiches at the Peanut Butter Jelly Deli - A Milwaukee Family Bucket List Adventure
The Peanut Butter & Jelly Deli just might be one of the cutest & tastiest spots in Milwaukee!
Their menu features a full page of PB&J options. Each member in my family chose a different sandwich.
Arlo is the family PB&J connoisseur. He went with a traditional peanut butter and jelly. He chose strawberry jelly from of a long list of options. He gave his sandwich two sticky thumbs up.
I chose “The King.” A grilled peanut butter, banana, honey and bacon sandwich. Yes bacon! It was amazing. This is the sort of sandwich a person craves… still thinking about it a week later, inevitably returning for more. Two big sticky thumbs up.
My husband ordered a “Crunch and Punch.” A grilled peanut butter and jalapeño raspberry jam sandwich. If spice is your jam, then this is your sam.
Finally my son Cy ordered the “You’re Killing Me Smalls.” The Sandlot is one of his favorite movies so the sandwich name may have influenced his choice. However when you read the ingredients… dark chocolate peanut butter, crushed graham crackers topped with mallow, you understand why this would win over a 10 year old. Nevertheless, he was the only family member with anything critical to say. He said it was a little “too sweet” which made us all laugh (I mean look at the ingredients - of course it is!) This sandwich would classify more as a dessert I believe.
As would be expected in Wisconsin - alcohol is served. Flyers were posted announcing the occasional late night appropriately named “Jam” sessions. My husband and I agreed that this would be a fun date night!
The deli was clean, welcoming and had a very pleasant ambiance. They had several shelves showcasing their homemade products like nut butters, jelly, spreads, salsas, lip balms and more that they offer for sale. I am tempted to make some unique muffins using one of their jams!
Overall we all gave it two enthusiastic (+ sticky) thumbs up!
This place is a local jam …er… jem!
