Working as a photographer for the Fringe Festival

I was asked to work as one of the photographers for the Minneapolis Fringe Festival.

It is an 11-day event that features shows in theaters & venues all over Minneapolis.

Patrons can purchase a day pass or a VIP pass to the entire festival. They can take in as many shows as they like on the day of their pass.

Many patrons make reservations prior to the popular shows to guarantee a seat.

The most popular show at each venue is then scheduled for an encore performance at the end of the festival.

This is such a fun way to spend a day with a friend! You get a chance to explore the city, have a seat and travel to a different world through the power of great acting.

You also get to witness many of the Twin Cities' best actors and actresses performing in venues that may be new to them as well.

As a photographer, this was great fun for me. I love shooting events. Meeting some of the professionals, the wonderful Fringe Festival volunteer staff and the patrons was such an added benefit! I met so many great people.

I also got to try working with crazy stage lighting, fast moving actors and tight angles. All of these things were new challenges for me and I enjoyed the challenge!

It was especially hard trying to not disturb the patrons as I took photos. I don't think I ever realized just how loud my camera "clicks" until I tried using it in a dark theater with a crowd of silent people! I was very careful to only click when the light & actor expression seemed "just right."

It was a treat to have so many beautiful costumes and actors to shoot! I loved trying to capture their expressions. They are such masters!

Thank you so much for the invite to be one of your photographers, Fringe Festival! I had a great time!
