The Shanties Within

A Quick Summary of the Shanties in the 2016 Art Shanty Project on White Bear Lake
The Art Shanty Projects are up and running. Every weekend in February. I am honored to be their official photographer. Last weekend I went with my husband and kids and we had a blast touring this little frozen art village.
The boys loved the Slumber Party Shanty. It is two stories high and incredibly creative.
There's a teddy bear running around outside - as part of the Slumber Party Shanty
The first floor of the Slumber Party Shanty is "under the bed." There lives a monster...
and Monster's collection of lost socks, a dust bunny collection and even some family portraits. My favorite part though is the "illegal to remove" mattress tag.
Once you climb up the ladder, to the second floor, you enter a much more cheerful area. A slumber party! Where you are invited to play games from the slumber party past.
The artists are in their special jammies too. Thanks Slumber Party Shanty! We had a blast!
The artists of the vintage ice fishing Catch Your Limit shanty encourage you to take a photo with a "fish" in front of their shanty - like the olden days!
You can make buttons at the Ice Fishing Shanty. This shanty is a dedication of the old ice-fishing days gone by. It is a beautifully done ode to vintage ice fishing shanties.
Visitors to the AstroLounge are welcome to rest in their lounge and enjoy the terrestrial view
Every wonder what happens down below in the elusive Boiler Room? Enter the Boiler Room Shanty, become an "Authorized Visitor" and grab a peek into the world of boilers.
A sighting of the seal bike!
When you enter the Data Lab, be prepared to "analyze your face off."
These data vixens need to know it all. Your favorite animal. Your favorite color. Interact with their many methods of data tracking. Also, if you are as lucky as my son, they may send you out into the wild with your own clipboard and encourage you to take a silly survey of other attendees. My number-centric son loved it.
Interact with Northern Lights at the Aurora Shanty! This solar-powered shanty adds much color to the white world of White Bear Lake
The Sonic Shanty will make you realize just how small you are as you stand on that big frozen lake and interact with the sounds that rise from below
See artists perform their craft in the well-crafted "Box"Studio Shanty. Find it where you see the big "ART" sign.
